James Arthur Ray on Mind & Mindset

July 21, 2008 by MacManxie

I came across this the other day and have been wanting to share it on the site ever since. James Ray is is great at explaining things in an easy to understand way, he talks about Thoughts, Feelings and Actions as the three key things that you need to get in harmony.

When he discusses continually looking to improve and grow and using your mind to learn more about things you know you don't know yet he says:

"How boring would it be if you arrived?"

I love that line as it lets you know that you are always on an eternal journey if you apply yourself and use the right mindset.

What Is Your Purpose?

July 7, 2008 by Alchemist

What Is Your Purpose?

Every once in a while you meet people who are inspired by their work.

They exude enthusiasm. They appear to care genuinely about what they are doing, the people with whom they work, and the people they serve.

They express a joy that seems to come from deep within; it’s not forced or superficial. You sense their genuineness and authenticity, and you don't believe they are playing a role.

When you meet such a person, you realize that their work is consistent with their purpose. You might say they are working "on purpose". They know why they are here and they know the difference they want to make. This clarity and focus on their purpose makes them stand out from most of the people you meet.

Have you found your purpose? People with a strong sense of purpose share a number of characteristics:

  • They love what they are doing
  • Work and leisure time sometimes seem the same
  • When they feel frustrated or irritated with a particular aspect of their job, they maintain a  deep feeling that what they are doing is still 'right'
  • They often feel that there is nothing else they would rather be doing
  • They usually feel at peace
  • They trust that things will work out for them
  • They usually maintain a positive attitude
  • Their work energizes them

Living Purpose is about Intention

Living "on purpose" doesn't happen on accident. There are some people who can live their life's purpose without actively seeking it, but they are few and far between. The rest of us have to set a strong intention to find and live our purpose. It's a process that requires you to look deep within yourself. The answers are there, like treasures buried in your backyard waiting for you to discover them.

When you make that discovery, your life changes. The more intimately connected you are to your purpose, to doing exactly what it is that your passions and talents have suited you to in the service of others, the better off the world will be.

If you want help finding your purpose I recommend you check out What's Your Purpose by Jim White PhD. Jim is leading a revolution to help 1 million people discover their life's purpose.

When you discover your purpose we would love you to share it here at the coffee philosophy. Our Life Energizer contains a section dedicated to discovering and sharing your purpose with others who are like minded and interested in personal growth.

A life without a purpose is a life without a destination. Like a boat adrift on the ocean, there is no telling where you might end up. With no direction to your life, you will be moved by random feelings and emotions into any harbour.

Learn to Quieten the Mind, Control your Thoughts and Shape your Destiny

May 28, 2008 by Alchemist

What do you think about each day?

Did you know that you have about 60,000 thoughts per day (most of them you don't even pay attention to) and that 95% of these thoughts are the same as yesterday!

Do you think too much? Does your mind ever stop? - Its quite common these days for the mind to be filled with mental chatter and sometimes it can become too much leading to stress, anxiety and other uncomfortable feelings.

You see we live in an era that has so many distractions, so many choices and so much information that we are practically drowning in stimuli.

So what can we do?

The answer is really simple, but so often overlooked or rejected for a more complex or quick fix solution such as alcohol, prescription drugs or illegal drugs.

You need to sit quietly and calm the mind for 5 minutes every day. I call this this my quiet time, but many people would refer to it as meditation, if you have any intention to improve your life it starts with your ability to control your thoughts, this is the one thing you can be certain to control but yet its the one thing that we very rarely learn to do.

Want to know how to do it?

Sit comfortably in a quiet location where you won't be disturbed, breathe naturally and focus you attention on your breathe, whenever you notice a thought pop into your head just let it pass and avoid perpetuating it with further related thoughts, then just bring your attention back to your breathe. Its that simple.

So now its up to you - make a commitment to sit quietly for 5 minutes everyday for the next 30 days. The 30 continuous days are important as this is how to create a new habit, and this habit will lead to a happier, healthier and more peaceful you. As you master the process you can then increase the time you sit quietly for; 30 minutes to 1 hour per day provides the greatest benefit.

Want some more help?

If like me you would like a short cut that will greatly increase your capacity to meditate and control your thoughts then you should check out Holosync Audio Technology from Centerpointe. I recommend you request the free CD demo from their website to really find out what it's about.

Having used Holosync for about 4 years now I can speak from experience that it really does help you enter deep meditative states that are probably only achieved by very experienced people. Holosync uses sound frequencies to achieve this by gently guiding you through the different known brain wave states (alpha, theta and delta). Having used the watching the breath technique for many years I was amazed at how powerful Holosync really was, trust me if you want to experience profound changes usually accompanied by years of meditation practice then this technology can and will help.

Control your Thoughts and Shape your Destiny

We all have the power to determine what we think in any given moment but it requires you to take control and not let the mind run free. When you learn to control the thoughts you think and the way you respond to the events of your life, you then take full control of your destiny.

The Driving Forces of Your Life

May 27, 2008 by Alchemist

If you want a crash course in some of the fundamental driving forces of your life then you need to watch this video of Tony Robbins. He highlights some key points that you have probably never considered but when you hear them you will just know what he means.

Tony is an amazing communicator and full of energy, this makes him a pleasure to watch, but most importantly he really knows what he is talking about. Tony has been studying people and the reasons why we do what we do for over 20 years.

This video is 20 minutes long and I promise it will leave you thinking "wow that was amazing, where can I get more?". If you really want more then you should check out his latest programme Get The Edge, I highly recommend it, I know for a fact that it has been a major influence in helping some close friends turn their lives around.
